Aikido University Workshop 2026 April 25th!

In addition to offering an opportunity to train under great teachers, the Aikido University Workshop seeks to accomplish three main goals:
- Bringing the community together - We all have a common passion for aikido. It is a great joy to be able to share it with people who are outside our usual training group.
- An event that is accessible to students - By making the event free for and tailored to university students we encourage the next generation!
- Social good - People who practice aikido tend to be socially conscious. This event allows them to come together around this intention. A portion of proceeds will go to a local environmental non-profit.

The Aikido University Workshop Started in 2018 to create an Aikido Event that is accessible to Aikido Students at the Colorado School of Mines to bring them together with the greater Aikido community. Since then it has expanded to include CU Boulder and Naropa and has become one of the most exiting community oriented events in the area. This is the first time it has been hosted by Boulder Aikikai.
Jennifer Barr is an instructor at Boulder Aikikai. She brings glowing presence and dynamic movement to every class. This is her second time teaching at the Aikido University Workshop.
Jose Antonio Cano started his Aikido journey in 2000 as a student of Seiji Tanaka Shihan, a direct student of Tomiki Sensei, who remains his teacher to this day. Throughout his aikido journey he has participated in Kata and Randori in multiple national and international events. His love of aikido increases by the day, and beyond his ability on the mat he has a deep knowledge of aikido history.
Eric Miller started aikido around 1994. His teachers include Frank Doran, Gloria Nomura, and since 2003, Hiroshi Ikeda, Tres Hofmeister and all the excellent aikidoka at Boulder Aikikai. His training aims for generous ukemi, easeful technique, and an aligned but spacious inner posture.
